From the recording Time Out of Mind

Remember that first love? It's better to have loved and to have lost than to never have loved at all but, what a loss. This song is about losing that first love. It stands out in the middle of my album "Me and My Guitar" in stark contrast to the grungy anthem rock songs as haunting, longing and tearfully nostalgic for what could have been. All things really do work out for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose. I'm happily married now and have also come back to my first love, Jesus. Let me take you back. Here is "Time Out of Mind."

Lyrics

Remember, September. Lazy, crazy days. Your hand on my shoulder, your lips brushing my face. Highschool sweethearts, in love for what, we thought was forever. Oh, lazy, crazy[, September days. What happened to that blond haired boy that brought you flowers time after time. He just faded away as time passed by. Time out of mind. Go through, a couple of years. Autumn leaves are falling down. Holding hands, making plans, you held back. You needed some time. Time for what I did not know and honey, I did not want to know. What, was holding you back this time. What happened to that blond haired boy that brought you flowers time after time. He just faded away as time passed by. Time out of mind. Yea, we were just kids but I cried the whole week long. The love of my life, would have made you my wife. Would have brought you flowers. Your whole life long. Your whole life long. What happened to that blond haired boy that brought you flowers time after time. He just faded away as time passed by. Time out of mind. Time out of mind.
