I wrote "That Mountain" as part of a concept CD that never got released called "Wasted Time." It was written as a prayer and turned out to be prophetic in my life because shortly after I recorded that song I became very, very ill and I subsequently went up that mountain. The CD never got entirely mastered and I went on to see the Light and live like I was dying for a while. I really came very close to passing away. I went back to what I knew and what I was taught as a child. No one is better and I mean no one. We all fall and perhaps, most of us have to go through something like that experience. However, as I went back to the basics; I opened a Bible and sought with my whole heart the Jesus of my childhood that I knew loved me, died for me on that cross and rose from the grave according to those scriptures in three days; by grace and faith he showed up for me. If you have trouble with doubt, just ask Him to show up for you, He will. I confessed Him Lord of my life and with that Lordship, I gave him what I write, sing, do in my everyday life, marriage and day job. I gave him everything and I got to tell you, He can be trusted. I remember being on my hands and knees during an extremely trying time, outside, with a thunderstorm in the distance and as I called out to Jesus in my distress, I asked Him, "do you still love me?" and the distant thunder roared. It never has stopped roaring since and the wind hasn't stopped blowing either. Praise God it's all recorded on the Youtube station Musicandmessage411 and on the videos I have going out. Once you see it you can't unsee it. You Just have to have a believing eye and ear and there are no special effects. It's all recorded on a regular cell phone and with an acoustic or occassionally, an electric guitar. Anyway, Jesus is really powerful and He is who he says He Is. He is God Almighty, for I called only upon Him by name and my subsequent recovery back to health, back to work and then the music put out since then (mostly unplugged, raw and imperfect as it is) are evidence to who He is. To God be the glory! I will never get over the unspeakable gift of Calvary, in Jesus, my Lord and how he called me up that mountain.
Join me for Music and Message. A sample of music videos that propel you on a journey of a songwriter seeing the light. I never used to pay attention when the thunder roared, the wind blew or the light shown but that is all different now. Drawing upon rock, folk, gospel and country influences with delicate and hard driving bluesy guitar rifts plus soulful harmonica backup. Recorded outside on most takes without special affects to let the Lord interact as he wills in the backdrop. Written for the glory of a Christ that loves all of us, died for us and prayerfully asking for his resurrection power to be seen within the performance, backdrop and natural surroundings noted in the recordings. Therefore, part of the message is the background interaction of nature with the words and lyrics written to the glory of God and how Jesus chooses to manifest himself within each production. It is written to open ones eyes to that majesty and the power of Jesus> The songs and messages are thereby "once I was blind but now I see" productions written to draw people to a saving knowledge in Christ. Nonbelievers need to keep an open mind and listen to the words as they coincide with nature and then go on to investigate the following messages that better explain what the song is trying to convey. Believers will come out encouraged and with their faith increased. Share these to get the good news out as I believe they are a great source of encouragement, enlightenment, joy and a great witness for the cause of Christ. The youtube channel is musicandmessage411 and my name is Steve Kennedy. I am a rural family physician and songwriter that had a near death experience before the covid pandemic and then turned and confessed Christ as Lord of my life. The music has been written in the wake of those experiences and during the tragedy, heartache and subsequent triumphs of of serving as a family physician in that setting. It was both triumphant and catastrophic and only by the grace of God did I make it back from that time period. There is no reason I am on this earth but for the grace of God and that fact became the fuel that drove the writing of the music and message. May you be greatly encouraged and you come to a saving knowledge of this mighty Saviour in Christ Jesus.
